Cardwell's Army Reforms

moonfleetonline

Cardwell introduced a number of much needed reforms to the Army in the 1870s and 80s. From a family history point of view, this is important as it included a great many changes in the organisation of regiments. Some amalgamated, some disappeared and a number were reborn with completely different names. A list of the reforms will be found at the bottom of this page.
